1. Data controller

WebFileTools (https://webfiletools.com) is operated as a personal project. For any questions regarding the protection of your data, contact us via the Contact page.

2. Data collected

100% local tools: No data is collected. Your files are processed exclusively in your browser and are never sent to our servers.

Server tools (compression, conversion, OCR, etc.): Files sent for processing are automatically deleted immediately after you download the result. No file is retained.

File sharing: Files uploaded via the sharing tool are voluntarily stored on our servers to generate a shareable link. Anonymous files are automatically deleted after 30 days. Files tied to an account are kept while the account is active (50 MB quota for free accounts). All files are scanned by antivirus (ClamAV) before storage.

Secret sharing and secret files: Data is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and automatically destroyed after being viewed or upon expiry, according to the settings chosen by the user.

User accounts: If you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. This data is required for the service to function.

3. Cookies

We only use technical cookies strictly necessary for the site to function (authentication session). No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.

4. Hosting and security

Data is hosted in Québec, Canada. Communications are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Uploaded files are scanned by antivirus before any processing or storage.

5. Your rights

Under applicable privacy legislation — including Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. 6. Retention periods

Processing tools: files are deleted immediately after processing.

File sharing: 30 days (anonymous) or while the account is active (registered user).

Secrets and secret files: destroyed after being viewed or upon expiry.

Account data: kept while the account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at contact@webfiletools.com.
